Work With Us
WHAT WE DO
At the grassroots level, UMN works in partnership with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other groups to equip these partners to independently and successfully respond to poverty in their communities. UMN teams of Nepali nationals and volunteer expatriates provide technical expertise that helps build capacity and skill in these local organisations.

On a national level, UMN works with other local and international NGOs and the government of Nepal to advocate for policies and activities that benefit the poorest and most marginalised people of Nepal.

How we do what we do is encompassed in the phrase Integral Mission. Integral Mission is the idea of striving to live, encourage, and be agents of transformation. The call of Christ in our lives is to serve in both word and deed. It is not a call to the physical versus the spiritual, or a call to either an individual or a community. It is a call to engage holistically with the people and world around us.

HOSPITALS
Historically, UMN started many health institutions. While most of these have been handed over to local leadership, UMN still manages hospitals in Tansen and Okhaldhunga.

Food Sovereignty - Empowering food insecure communities through enhancing their control over food availability, accessibility and utilisation.

Disaster Management - Enhancing the capacity of communities to prevent, prepare for and respond to disaster to minimise the impact of hazards before and after they strike.

HIV and AIDS - Preventing HIV transmission through education and awareness raising and improving the quality of life of people living with HIV and AIDS through empowerment, care and support.

Education - Improving practical education through enhancing quality and access to formal and non-formal education.

Organisational Development - Strengthening partners' organisational capacities to improve their effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability.

Enterprise Development - Empowering marginalised families to access regular cash income through increased opportunities.

Children at Risk - Ensuring that children, including children with disabilities, have peace, security, protection from exploitation and violence, and live with dignity.

Health and Gender - Improving women and children's well-being through empowerment, health promotion, and improving the quality of health services.
