Bajhang Cluster
Bajhang is a hilly and rural district of Nepal bordering Tibet to the north. It is the second least developed district among the nine in Sudurpaschim (Far West) Province. Despite its remote location, Bajhang holds significant importance in terms of tourism, religion, history and culture. Major tourist attractions include Mt. Saipal, Surma Sarovar Lake and Khaptad National Park.

Key Social and Development Problems
  1. Unemployment and seasonal migration
  2. Food insecurity.
  3. Low access of poor and marginalised communities to quality and vocational education. The literacy rate stands at 70.5% with male literacy at 82.8% and female literacy at 60%.
  4. Major health problems include early pregnancy, uterine prolapse, poor hygiene and sanitation.
  5. Harmful traditional practices such as child marriage, Chhaupadi, caste-based and gender-based discrimination are prevalent.
