Natural disasters are inevitable, but the risks can be mitigated to some extent. 

UMN works together with the local governments of Nawalparasi West, Rukum East and Kapilvastu District in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), to reduce and manage risks.

Public awareness, risk awareness, identifying school and community risks, preparing the community and school with DRR plans are some of our interventions.

In case of a disaster, the Community Disaster Management Committee is the first responder, so they have been trained in disaster preparedness and response and equipped with life-saving materials.
