Pratima Pun, a grade 9 student and member of the Sasaktikaran adolescent girls’ group from Rukum initially joined anticipating opportunities to play sports like football and volleyball. Through the training sessions and interactions, she realised that games could perpetuate stereotypes, biases, and discrimination. Even though she faced societal hurdles as well as language difficulties, she succeeded in overcoming the challenges. She is proud to contribute to breaking down these gender stereotypes, believing that girls can excel if given opportunities, and her group is actively working to overcome these barriers.
I feel immense value in being a part of this group. My group members and I raise our voices against harmful practices like child marriage. We want our village to be free of child marriages. Our voices will not stop until we address such societal issues and inspire others to join the campaign.
