We are training front-line helpers from our communities to help and counsel people struggling with alcohol and substance abuse. Alcohol consumption is linked to many health issues and is a significant contributing factor to gender-based and domestic violence.
Last week, a five-day training was held in Dhangadi, focusing on building skills and competencies of frontline helpers from Bajhang, Rukum East and Kapilvastu Districts. These trained individuals will be offering help to those struggling with alcohol addiction and will also conduct group counselling sessions.
Thank you to UMN’s local partners, Nepal Public Awakening Forum, Dalit Help Society and Dalit Social Development Centre, for being with us in this. Together, we believe it is never too late to make a change.
