Connecting People to Nature
Connecting People to Nature

The world is waking up to the issues of global warming and the
perilous effects of damaging the environment. As we join together to celebrate
nature on World Environment Day, such issues and importance of keeping our Earth
healthy are brought to the consciousness of people. Similarly today, UMN’s
Rupandehi cluster along with its partner Bikalpa celebrated the 44th
World Environment day with the global theme, “Connecting People to Nature,” by
planting trees.

More than 100 students, School Management
Committee members, UMN’s staff along with Executive Committee and staff of Bikalpa
actively participated at Shree Rastriya Secondary School at Susta Rural
Municipality in Nawalparasi. As a part of the programme, 40 Ashoka tree saplings
were planted within the school premises. Towards the end of the event, students
were made aware about the importance of preserving the environment and the
significance of celebrating this day.
