We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Maureen Dar Iang.

Dr Maureen was a public health clinician with more than twenty-five years of professional experience in international health.

We were blessed to have Dr Maureen serve with UMN. She came to Nepal in 1999 and served at Okhaldhunga Community Hospital, Community Development and Health Programme, Lalitpur, and later at UMN Thapathali Office as the Lead Health Advisor for Health and Gender until October 2010.

We have fond memories of Maureen during her time with us in Nepal, and remember her with love and gratitude for her dedication to the work and mission we shared.

She made significant contributions to improving maternal and child health in remote regions of Nepal. Her work extended beyond increasing access to healthcare services to making them more affordable and strengthening the Government of Nepal’s health system to promote safe motherhood. She also empowered women and children by training local women’s groups, Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), and child-to-child class facilitators, helping to build stronger community-based health systems.

During this time of grief, we remember her family in our prayers, particularly her daughter Stephanie, and all who knew and loved Maureen. May they find the Lord’s comfort, strength, and peace during this difficult time.
