On Valentines Day, about 30 people from UMN, plus some friends, joined with many others to celebrate in a unique way, showing solidarity with  women and girls who are abused, raped or in some way survivors of violence.

The issue of violence against women is a global issue, both in the so-called developed countries, and the so-called developing countries, and it is important that all of us show that we take this matter seriously. “One Billion Rising” refers to the fact that one in three women and girls globally will suffer from abuse or rape in their lifetime. A truly appalling statistic. Let us all, from our homes, to our communities, and to the country as a whole stand up and be counted. Make it clear where you stand.
