We don’t usually have sword swallowers at UMN! But Dan Meyer, an international performer, was in Nepal last week for a short visit. It was a privilege for UMN to have him briefly perform for the staff last Friday. Meyer can swallow swords with blade lengths ranging from 15 to 30 inches in length.
Meyer currently holds 5 Guinness World Records, and has been featured in Ripley’s Believe It or Not cartoon, the 2008 Ripley’s Believe It or Not book, and has been featured in hundreds of television and radio programmes around the world.
In a few words, he also shared with UMN staff about his struggles and early days. His personal story of perseverance and persistence in his quest to master his fears, and this extraordinary skill, was very inspiring.
While visiting UMN, Dan was the guest of Bibhu Singh, UMN’s Funding Management Co-ordinator. His final act involved Bibhu, absolutely petrified, who had to be a sport and pull the 25 inch sword out from his mouth in one go.
Meyer says this fame gives him a fantastic opportunity to share with people about his Christian faith and the love of Christ.
