UMN at International Peace Day Rally

On the occasion of International Day of Peace on 21st September, UMN Peace building staff and interns participated in the Ministry of Peace and Reconciliation organized Peace procession, themed “Political stability for sustainable peace”. Apart from the staff and interns, UMN’s national partners Micah network and the newly formed national level youth interfaith groups’ ambassadors also took active part in this procession.

In this peaceful procession, at least 200 people – including political leaders, development workers, students and civil society groups enthusiastically participated. Many of the participants wore T-shirts bearing the slogan “Political stability for sustainable peace”, or carried banners and placards like “We Nepalis are Worshippers of Peace”, “Peace for Progress and Development”, all expressing the desire for sustainable peace in Nepal. The group rallied through several neighborhoods of the city for over two hours, starting off at Ratna Park and ending at Thapathali, where the Minister for Peace and Reconciliation Mr. Top Bahadur Rayamajhi gave a short speech to encourage the rally participants.
