Vocational training to create entrepreneurs
Vocational training to create entrepreneurs
Skill enhancing training can open plethora of opportunities for youth when they step out into the real world. With an expectation to create skilled manpower and employment opportunities locally, vocational training is being provided to 50 trainees from earthquake affected VDCs of Dhading where UMN has been working.
Mobile and motorcycle repairing, tailoring, electrical, automobile, plumbing and house wiring are some of the areas that the vocational training has covered for the UMN Dhading Disaster Response Program (DDRP) beneficiaries. The training will last for six months which will include five months of theory and practical sessions and then a month of internship.
The training is being conducted at Underprivileged Children’s Educational Programs (UCEP) Nepal and is affiliated by Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). The training is in partnership with HIMS Nepal, NRDS and PRAYAS Nepal, UMN’s partners in Dhading.
As skilled manpower is highly demanded in the market, trained human resources are assumed to help generate extra income.  DDRP recovery interventions hope to equip and prepare needy young people with useful technical skills.
