Prayer Points – May 13
Prayer Points – May 13
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit.”
(John 15v7)
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
  • Okhaldhunga Hospital asks prayer for the following:
    – for leadership of the hospital as they make decisions around the 30% shortfall of hospital income and the knock on effect that has on staff, resources, equipment and services.
    – wisdom for on-going preparations and planning for care of positive coronavirus patients. So far Okhaldhunga District has not had any positive cases.
    – for health energy and resilience of hospital staff
  •
  • Please remember the financial needs of UMN and the hospitals. To date $167,709 (USD) has been received in response to our appeal. Specific information and proposals have also been sent to existing funding partners making the very large future needs known.

  • Pray for growing positive relationships with Government. Recently UMN along with others made its response to the National Planning Commission (NPC) regarding ideas, concerns and reflections on how best to respond to the pandemic. Pray that this will be carefully considered. Today further preparation is being done in UMN to finalise our General Agreement with Government. Pray that this also will be successful.

  • Projects that are ending & Projects that are changing. Two of our Clusters are closing down in coming months while in other Clusters we are moving work to new districts and partners. Even without COVID19 these are difficult challenges. Partners from past days need confidence to step forward with their own projects and plans – but now more difficult in a time of pandemic. Pray that we will be able to offer help and encouragement to these NGOs who we will no longer work with.

  • The disruption of COVID19 has differing facets for individual UMN staff. Some have been almost overwhelmed with work, decision making and the difficulties of working remotely, while others are hindered from work and are facing the frustration of being unable to progress their work at all. Please uphold all staff and their families at this time.
