Giving thanks for the life of Rebecca Sinha

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Rebecca Sinha on Wednesday, 17 June 2026. She was 79, and had been facing health challenges for the past year.

Rebecca Sinha was a highly respected nursing educator and a prominent figure in Nepal’s nursing profession. Throughout her life, she made significant contributions not only to nursing education but also to numerous organisations and served in communities across Nepal. Rebecca was known for her kindness and servant-hearted leadership. She had a passion for teaching, and a desire to bring positive change wherever it was needed, particularly in the health department.

Rebecca shared a close association with UMN, dating back to the early years of Shanta Bhawan Hospital, where she was among the first batch of nurses to serve in the 1970s.

In 1984, she began serving as a Sister Tutor and devoted 37 years to nursing education. She served as Campus Chief of Lalitpur Nursing Campus for 12 years. During her tenure, she played an important role in guiding the campus through its transition to independence from UMN. She also served on the UMN Board for four years from 2009 to 2013.

We thank God for Rebecca’s life and for her many years of faithful service. She lived a full and purposeful life, serving others with humility and walking closely with God.

UMN and all who had the privilege of knowing Rebecca Didi, join together in prayer for her family and loved ones during this time of grief. May they find His comfort, strength, and peace.

The funeral service will be held tomorrow, 19 June 2026, at NIM Lalitpur Church, Dhobighat, at 10:30 am.
