Medical Electives at UMN’s Hospitals
Medical Electives at UMN’s Hospitals

Our medical elective program offers a 6-week minimum placement, allowing students to be involved first-hand in a setting very different to their home countries. Places are limited – three students at any one time: two in Tansen and one in Okhaldhunga. This allows for a more comprehensive and productive learning experience.

We arrange* the following:

  • Airport pick-up
  • Booking initial accommodation in Kathmandu
  • Transport to Tansen or Okhaldhunga
  • Accommodation on or very near the hospital compound
  • An orientation tour of the hospital
  • Basic cultural awareness information

*Students are expected to cover all personal costs including travel to and from Tansen/ Okhaldhunga, food, accommodation costs and visa, as well as a USD 250 registration fee to cover the administrative and training costs of the elective programme.

If you would like to learn more about one of these medical elective placements, please see below.
