A gift from the Government of Japan

We’re thrilled to share that this past week, the Embassy of Japan to Nepal handed over six recycled fire trucks to UMN under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). We were honoured to host the handover program at the UMN garden and receive the fire trucks in the presence of His Excellency Maeda Toru, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal.

The GGP-funded initiative, facilitated by Volunteer Corps Nepal and UMN, will provide six municipalities with vital firefighting resources, helping to fill critical gaps in local disaster management and strengthen community resilience. The fire trucks are already on their way to Okhaldhunga, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi West and Palpa!

A heartfelt thank you to the Government of Japan for their continued partnership and commitment to disaster risk reduction and local capacity building in Nepal. Thank you to all the local leaders for your support and cooperation.
