Doti’s improved water mills
Doti’s improved water mills

Did you know water mills are still relied on for grinding grains in rural Nepal? UMN, through our local partner and the CLIMATES project in Doti, is promoting and supporting installation of new mills and renovation of traditional mills to improve efficiency and reduce labour, especially women’s workload. So far around 344 households in Bogatan Phudsil have benefitted from five new mills installed through the project – saving 1-2 hours’ walk for milling work – and one traditional mill which has been renovated.

In Nepal, water not only brings life to people, animals and crops but it can ease workload, especially for women – happy World Water Day 2024!
