Happy farmers! – Paddy seeds distributed
Happy farmers! – Paddy seeds distributed

As the paddy planting season begins in Barahatal Rural Municipality, Surkhet, many marginalised and smallholder farmers continue to face food insecurity due to limited access to quality seeds, low purchasing power, and inadequate irrigation facilities.

To support vulnerable farming families, UMN recently provided 1,612 kg of improved paddy seed varieties to 209 food-insecure households. These drought-tolerant varieties will help strengthen climate-resilient farming practices, improve productivity, and enhance household food security.

In addition to the seeds, the farmers will receive training on climate-adaptive production practices to build their skills and improve productivity under changing climatic conditions.
