Around 200 members of Khoria village in Kapilvastu District recently participated in a Disaster Response Simulation event, including mock drills in the village. Their community is highly vulnerable to various hazards such as fire and flood, resulting in casualties almost every year, so the simulation involved real-life scenarios, including extinguishing fires and rescuing individuals from drowning.
To better prepare local residents and the Community Disaster Management Committee with necessary skills, UMN’s SECURE project had collaborated with the Armed Police Force (APF) to organise the event. The APF provided demonstrations on tools, techniques, and precautions to be applied during the most probable disasters in the area.
