Local Community for Peace (LCP) is a network of nine partner organisations in four Asian countries: Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. Partner organisations strive to contribute to the establishment of a just and a peaceful society, which provides equal chances and access to all members irrespective of belief, caste, gender or ethnic affiliation. UMN has been a network member of LCP since 2005.
Last week UMN hosted LCP 2011, a convention of LCP organisations, at the Godavari Resort, Katmandu. The convention consisted of two events- a Trainer’s Convention and the Core Group Meeting. At the Trainer’s Convention, there was planning for the next phase of LCP and other discussions on how the trainers could make contributions. This is the first time a Trainers Convention has been held. LCP holds Core Group Meetings twice a year, where they share their experience and challenges and plan the next programme.
