World TB day
World TB day
Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be one of the major killers of people in the world.
It is more common in resource-limited countries and amongst disadvantaged groups.
Health workers in countries like Nepal are more likely to be exposed to TB – read Sister Tamanna’s story on page 15 of the 2021 Friends of Okhaldhunga.
One of the side effects of the COVID-19 pandemic is that it has interrupted the TB control programmes of many countries. TB is a treatable and curable disease but more people are dying from it under the shadow of COVID-19 (see page 12-13 of Friends of Okhaldhunga magazine).
