Prayer Points – December 13
Prayer Points – December 13
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light”.
1 Peter 2v9

We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
  • Continue to pray for UMN’s Project Agreements and Expat visa positions. The Government is planning to cut the number of visas down. But praise God for the registration of United Mission Hospital Tansen which was obtained just recently.

  • Please pray for learning opportunities this week  – for Prem Shintan, Kabin Maharjan and Pandav Rasaili in a learning visit to Janakpur around Child Rights and for the faith leaders from Doti and Bajhang who are going to participate the Disaster Risk Reduction workshop on 15 to 17 Dec. We hope the workshop will be an opportunity for them to understand and plan for the community based DRR initiatives.

  • Pray for both hospitals for their preparation for a third wave of COVID infection, their construction plans, and the land transfer process. Give thanks for successful dental/medical camp that was conducted in Tansen’s local prison on 8th December and for the successful disability screening and training in Okhaldhunga over one week.

  • Continue to pray for those affected by COVID – for Dr. Olak’s complete recovery, for staff whose family have been infected with COVID including the husband of Cheli (Senior Programme Officer – Gender) and for Bikash Adhikari from Sundar Dhoka Saathi Sewa who is still very critical.
  • Also for family of staff members who are ill – for Bhagirath (Grant Management Advisor)’s mother, who has been admitted to hospital with pneumonia and is unconscious, and for the mother of Kapilvastu Cluster’s Finance Coordinator, Tara Bahadur BK. She suffered a sudden blood clot in her head last Friday due to high blood pressure, and now she is under doctor’s observation in Bhairahawa Medical College. Please pray the father of Suraj Sonar (SEED project manager, Rukum) – he is suffering from bradycardia. Please pray for their recovery.

  • Please pray for successful completion of all planned activities and budgets of January to December projects in our clusters.

  • Pray for appropriate successors to fill a few positions, especially the Expat Coordinator, since some Expats are planning to leave.

  • Cluster and hospital colleagues will be traveling to and from clusters for Christmas and also for meetings – please pray for their safe travel.
