In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein
“This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.â€
(Philippians 1v9-11)
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
In very recent days the Ex-Pat medical staff have received six month visa extensions. Give praise to God that they can now resume their work once more, but please also pray for the ongoing work to gain full visas without periods of enforced breaks of service.
Pray for Okhaldhunga Nursing School which has been badly disrupted by the pandemic. However face to face classes have now resumed in closely controlled conditions. In the hospital it is not possible to test patients for COVID-19 and therefore everyone coming must be managed as potentially infected. To make space different departments have had to be moved to buildings that are not properly equipped. Ask the Lord to give patience, skill and compassion to all working there.
In Nawalparasi Cluster, Sabu Tamang, Cluster Team Leader and Balkrishna Pandey, Programme Manager have been caught by COVID-19 since last week. Please pray for their speedy recovery.
As we all look forward to 2021 and the challenges it will bring, please continue to support UMN in prayer. There are many needs which have been communicated in recent months. Most of them are ongoing so the need for prayer support is ongoing also. Especially uphold Dhana Lama as she prepares to carry the responsibility of Executive Director.
Recently a number of our staff colleagues have suffered bereavement in their families. Please pray for comfort, peace and strength for Sabu who has lost her father in-law and Gopi who has lost her mother. Both of them are from Nawalparasi. Gokarn who works from Thapathali mourns for the loss of his mother too.
