Prayer Points – March 1, 2021
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein

Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
(Psalm 27v14)
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
  • Please continue to focus your prayers our agreements with Government and the related need for ex-pat visas. Pray for the relevant officials in the Social Welfare Council (SWC), Health Ministry and Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare for the Process and their clear understanding. SWC has also been working on to standardise some of the processes related to this and present to the Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare. Nine INGOs had signed their General Agreement last week, including two Christian Faith-based organisations. We are hopeful that the remaining organisations, including us will happen soon.

  • Continue to pray for staff who are visiting clusters from Kathmandu to support in completing plans and proposals. Pray for clarity in planning and safety in work and travel.

  • Please pray for the work of the Staff Support Group (SSG) in UMN. Aware of many pressures in work and family during the pandemic the Leadership Team set up SSG to offer a listening/support service to any staff who would appreciate opportunity to talk over personal issues in confidence. The SSG are also seeking to organise occasional seminars and training on issues such as self-care and resilience. Pray that these will be a help to all.

  • Pray for Dhana Lama and Joel Hafvenstein as they make preparations for handing over responsibilities of Executive Director. At this time of great uncertainty they need help from above. Pray strength for them in the countless daily pressures and decisions that must be made.
