In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein
Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.â€
(Psalm 16v1-2)
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
UMN is seeking candidates to serve on its Board to fill five slots that will be empty from next May. Please pray that the right people will be called to this crucial governance role. We are especially praying that the Lord will call Board members with skills in finance and law, as well as Nepali pastors or theologians.
In Doti Cluster, pray for the preparation of baseline surveys of two major projects that had been halted because of COVID-19 pandemic. Please pray for the safety of all cluster, partner staff and enumerators of the survey, especially staff members Tirth and Surendra and partner Rural Community Development Centre (RCDC), and that this work goes quickly without any transmission of Corona virus.
Also in Doti, UMN staff Bishal, Khadak, Surendra and Sipora are visiting Silgadhi, the district headquarters, for a coordination meeting with district line agencies and partners about resuming progress on UMN’s ongoing programme and budgets after a very long gap. Pray for safe travel and fruitful meetings.
In Kapilvastu Cluster, pray for the speedy recovery of two of our staff who are unwell – Tara Bahadur BK, and Paban Kumar Adhikari. Tara has symptoms of pneumonia but has so far tested negative for COVID-19. Paban tested positive for COVID 19 and is undergoing treatment at HAMS hospital in Kathmandu.
In Rukum Cluster, pray for the fruitful orientation on the effective use of Self Learning Materials. Self-Learning Materials are supporting the schools of Putha and Syalakhadi rural municipalities, in Rukum East and Rukum West. Kul Bdr Chaudhary from the cluster and Partner staff will be involved in conducting the orientation event.
