In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27v1
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
Please pray for Bishal who has now finished his time as Cluster Team Leader in Doti and is preparing to take over Thapathali based responsibility as Project Partner Team (PPT) Leader in mid-October. In the meantime he is undergoing some training along with Dhana and Bal Kumari in Integral Development. Please pray that this will be a fruitful period of transition.
Please pray for the Doti and Rukum Cluster teams as they adjust to new leadership – Shiva in Rukum and Ramesh in Doti. As they work through this time of many changes may they continue strong together with a clear vision of serving the people in greatest need in the spirit of Jesus.
Continue in prayer for both our hospitals. Day by day they are providing support and saving lives no matter what the illness. Just a few days ago Tansen Mission Hospital had 13 patients seriously ill with Covid-19. Remember all staff as they give their best to restore health.
Keep in mind that the hospitals are dealing with multiple wide-ranging medical emergencies. Last week in Tansen there were two patients with snake bites on the ventilators, a third just came off the ventilator the previous week. There is also a scrub typhus and bronchiolitis (wheezy baby) epidemic going on at the same time. The previous week two women needed surgery for bleeding after delivery (post-partum Haemorrhage) who would have died without prompt treatment. Praise God for this work and pray it continues.
Continue to pray for UMN’s Project Agreements, there has been a change in Officials in the Social Welfare Council. Also, remember all clusters and Programme Support Team members, who will be engaged in Social Audit for the government from this week. Programme Support Team members have been traveling to and from Clusters, pray for their health and safety.
