In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.â€
Isaiah 30v15
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
In Nepal the COVID-19 death toll has now passed 11,000. Sadly news of infection and death is a daily reality. Over 17 million doses of vaccine have been received from various countries – but the challenge is to administer this to those most in need. Pray for all officials engaged in this task.
By the end of last week in our Rukum East cluster 3,684 people were vaccinated against COVID with their first dose. In collaboration with local government and two partner organisations, UMN cluster staff helped bring vaccines into remote hilly areas and in some cases even carry elderly people to centres to receive their vaccination. Pray for this work and for good relationships developing through it.
In the last four weeks 846 households have received food support through our Nawalparasi staff in response to sudden flooding of monsoon rains. Houses have been destroyed and in some cases tarpaulins have been distributed to those most in need. Pray for those families as they struggle to recover.
In face of many uncertainties, preparations are underway for the UMN General Assembly at the end of November. The Board of Trustees will meet beforehand and at this time the responsibilities of the Executive Director will be handed over to Dhana Lama. Please pray for everyone involved at a crucial period in the history of UMN. Pray for clear guidance for all who are responsible for decision-making.
Continue to pray for the approval of UMN’s Project Agreements by the Government and also for Clusters as they prepare for UMN Social Audit, a Government requirement which will demonstrate UMN’s transparency and accountability.
Please remember the health of staff members and their families – Give thanks that Rakshya our Health Lead safely delivered her baby and both are in good health. Pray for Sagar (our Peace and Protection Lead), his wife and sons as they contracted COVID-19 after his field trip in Kapilvastu last week. Pray for Rabbi (ITS team) who is under medical supervision and is very weak due to low haemoglobin levels. Idu Nepali (OCH ICT Officer) is traveling to Pokhara because his family members are suffering from fever and need immediate attention. Pray for his safe travel and their quick recovery.
