Prayer Priorities – July 12, 2022
“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
Isaiah 1v17
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.

Praise
  • We thank God for the general and biomedical maintenance departments In Tansen Hospital that keep the physical and technical infrastructure of the hospital functioning. This is a challenge with irregular electricity and a mix of donated and purchased equipment, on which medical care is dependent.

  • The annual review meeting of the SEED project with partner MIC-Nepal went well at East Rukum

  • We have some new staff joining UMN. We give praise for their gifts and abilities and pray they settle in to our UMN family quickly.
Prayer
  • Continue in prayer for Dr Olak, Rabbi and also the fathers of Sagar and Bhagirath.

  • It is noticeable that there have been increasing cases of Covid-19 in Nepal. Please pray that this can be controlled and not be as dangerous as previously.

  • Recently everyone in UMN has been having training in fighting fraud. Please pray for Bishnu Sapakota (Finance) and Gokarn Joshi (Good Governance) as they facilitate and follow up this training in UMN and our partners. Integrity in our work is vital.

  • This time of year is extremely busy with completing year-end works and annual reporting. Prayer is needed that all of this is completed quickly and accurately.

  • There have been heavy monsoon rains in certain areas both East and West. Pray for protection from flood and landslide for people travelling and for the poorest communities.

  • A number of expat visa applications are now ongoing – pray that there will not be long delays.

  • The court case concerning our Thapathali property continues – please continue to pray for some resolution.

  • We are seeking to recruit a Disaster Response Manager – pray that the right individual will come forward and be appointed.

  • The Integral Development Team has been reviewing all its work among Churches and communities. Please pray for Rajendra and his team as they plan for the future.
Cluster Teams
  • In East Rukum, please pray for the successful completion of the IDRA project midline survey and enumerator (Mina Budha Magar) as she is involved in the survey.

  • Cluster Strategy reviews and planning are ongoing. Please pray for clear thinking and positive plans for our future work and effectiveness.
Hospitals
  • Please pray for leadership transitions in our hospitals – Dr Olak is due to retire and Yubraj will move from Okhaldhunga to take over the Hospitals Services Office (HSO) in Thapathali. Dr Roshan has moved from Tansen to Okhaldhuga to become the Hospital Director there.

  • In Tansen, nurses and doctors have been having introductory and refresher training in high dependency and critical care work in recent weeks. These units are busy and stressful. Pray that the staff will do the best they can offer with the resources available, and use the skills taught in training.
