Transforming gender injustice and inequality to gender justice and equality by addressing the negative impacts of injustice and inequality on both women and men across all cluster.
1. Gender and Development
Enhance understanding on gender and development; advocacy for meaningful, effective participation and equal opportunities for women, as well as men, in leadership and decision-making level; facilitate participatory action and reflection process for gender equality to partners for their work in the community.
2. Equity and Justice
We value and respect individuals and diversity, working alongside people from diverse backgrounds (such as: caste, class, gender, ability, geographical and educational), enabling them to speak and act against injustice. We work proactively to address injustice to bring change at local, national, and international levels.
3. Gender Sensitivity
Raising awareness to understand how gender roles have been constructed and impact women and men, girls and boys differently (skills, knowledge and attitude), and to acknowledge and make existing gender differences, issues and inequality visible.
4. Gender Mainstreaming
Ensuring the gender perspective is included in organisational policies, strategies, programmes, projects and administrative functions, as well as into the institutional culture of UMN and its partner organisations. Advocating for the concerns and experiences of women as well as of men to be integral to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes in all political, economic, and societal spheres so that women and men benefit equally.
5. Affirmative Actions to Achieve Gender Equality
We promote and carry out affirmative actions to achieve gender equality in the organisation and through our works i.e. Gender-balanced staffing, creating separate forums of female and male staff, flexible working hours for pregnant and lactating mothers, supporting care takers, and more.
6. Safeguarding and PSEAH*
We promote gender sensitive working environments, raising awareness and working on prevention to achieve safety and a harassment-free working environment for all staff.
