Gyanu Kumari Bohara, an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife at Kanachaur Health Post in a remote ward of Doti, encountered challenges due to inadequate lighting especially during nighttime delivery cases. This area is not yet connected to the local or national electricity grid.
Despite reaching out to local authorities for support, their requests went unanswered. However, with the intervention of UMN’s health project, the health post received four sets of solar batteries. With proper solar lighting installed, Gyanu and her team can now conduct nighttime delivery cases more effectively and even charge their mobile phones. Since the installation, Gyanu has successfully conducted eight nighttime delivery cases, improving childbirth facilities in the rural community.
