One of UMN’s Sunsari partners is Ramganj Yuba Club. The members are a delightful well educated group of people in their mid 30’s. Two years ago, they began working with the landless Musahar community by forming saving and credit groups. By doing that, they have begun to understand what it feels like to be disenfranchised and landless. Thanks to their struggle and work with the community, 10 members now have citizenship papers. This has given each person an increased sense of dignity and identification as a legal citizen of Nepal. It is also the passport to being able to be employed in a factory, attend college, vote, buy land, and open a bank account and so much more!
