Prayer Priorities – March 14, 2023

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.


Praise
  • Please pray for the peace to prevail in Ukraine and in Russia.
  • Praise that the Ministry of Health has planned a hearing of the environmental study this week, which is a key step in the process of getting permission to use forestry land for the wastewater project.  Pray that the process will then proceed quickly.
  • Praise God for the successful celebration of International Women’s Day in Nepal and in UMN with the theme Innovation and technology for gender equality and with various programmes across the nation.
  • Praise God for the successful tenure of Nepal’s President Bidhya Devi Bhandari for the last 10 years and also for the election of the new president for Nepal, Ram Chandra Poudel.
  • Praise God that two days policy review workshop on conflict sensitivity with partners Sunwal Community Development Center and Indreni of Nawalparasi cluster went well.
  • Give thanks for the success of the 3 days workshop on conflict analysis for Judiciary committee members, ward chairperson and government officials of Pratappur and Palhinandan Rural Municipality of Nawalparasi.
  • Praise God that the parental education facilitators training went well in Bajhang cluster.
  • Give thanks that Nabin Chaudhary’s participation in the Women Health Conference last week in Kathmandu was meaningful.
  • Praise God for the safety of Jiwan Rai’s travel to and from Rukum cluster and for his successful facilitation of two Sangsangai workshops for church leaders.
  • Okhaldhunbga Community Hospital family would like to thank and praise God for all the dear brothers and sisters from Thapathali, UMN clusters and from around the globe, who intercede for them regularly.
  • Praise God for donor visits, it has been very encouraging and helpful to understand each other as well as build and maintain the relationship.
  • Give thanks to the Lord for the completion of the Hospital and Medical Development Trust (MDT) Strategic Planning process.
  • We praise God for resolving the visa issue, all progressing positively.
  • Praise God for His faithfulness and grace, we have celebrated 69th Anniversary of UMN.

Prayer
  • UMN, as per its strategy, is expanding its work in two new clusters in Madhesh and Karnali Provinces. Please pray that God will provide the needed resources for the timely start up and continuation of the work in these new clusters.
  • Let’s continue to pray for Turkey and Syria. Pray for the bereaved families and the people affected by the devastating earthquake and also for the second phase of the response work.
  • Please pray for the successful recruitment of new staff for hospital and UMN INGO.
  • Continue to pray for the political leaders and the stable government for the benefit of nation and its people.
  • Please pray for Dhana, Sagar and Surendra as they participate the Roundtable Conference in Resilience Practices.
  • Please also pray for Hospital teams and Leadership Team as they work on completing the Strategic plans for MDT.
  • Please continue to pray for Rabbi for successful treatment and complete healing.
  • Continue to pray for the resolution of the long-standing property dispute at UMN’s Thapathali headquarters.

Cluster Work
  • Please pray for the successful visit of TAI’s Fundraising and Marketing Team, represented by Hanna Moeda and Ellyse, from 17 to 21 March in Kapilvastu. They are taking photos and videos to make stories of beneficiaries of Strengthening Community Resilience Through Livelihoods and Environment Improvement (SECURE), Children Youth and Community for Change (CYCC), Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) projects.
  • Please pray for the successful completion of 4 day’s Participatory Action and Reflection workshop on Conflict Sensitivity to the group members/facilitators of the Gender equality and Relive project in Nawalparasi Cluster.
  • Please pray for the successful completion of the cluster and community visit from UMN partners Transform Aid International (TAI) and Kindernothlife (KNH) in Nawalparasi.
  • Please pray for the successful completion of 2 days environment and climate change policy review workshop of partner organizations in Nawalparasi.
  • Please pray for the successful completion of Activity Based Learning training of trainers in Bajhang. Pray that the participants may have meaningful participation and develop their capacities to train school management committee, parents teachers association and teachers of their respective schools.
  • Please pray for UMN staff’s field visit in Bajhang for financial review of the project’s documents. May God help them with wisdom and guidance to work effectively and efficiently.
  • Please pray for the monitoring visit from Tearfund Australia in Mugu cluster from 13-17 March 2023.
  • Please pray for project staff recruitment in UMN’s partner organization in Mugu cluster.
  • Please pray for the upcoming training of local media persons on advocacy on DRR and climate change adoption related issues in Rukum Cluster.
  • Please pray for the success of three days training for the local representative of Putha Uttarganga rural municipality on Environment-Friendly Local Governance (EFLG) under SEED project in East Rukum.
  • Cheli Gurung will facilitate the participatory action reflection review workshop with partner staff in Rukum. Please pray for her travel and success of the workshop.
  • Shiva Adhikari is traveling to Kathmandu to attend the PMC meeting and Project Manager-Protection recruitment process in Thapathali. Please pray for his safe travel and the success for the recruitment process.
  • Pray for 2 days of advocacy training organised by ProAct proejct on ending domestic violence in Rukum.

Tansen Hospital
  • Please pray for our anaesthesia team, both doctor and anaesthesia assistants, as they are vital part of the operating team.  Pray for the 3 trainees who are in the hospital for the year-long Anaesthesia Assistant Course training.
  • Continue to pray for our relationship with the government health insurance board and discussions about how to continue in this system despite a heavy financial burden.

Okhaldhunga Hospital
  • Pray for safety in travel as some of our staff members are traveling abroad to attend a conference.
  • Remember the recruitment process for surgeons and Physiotherapist for Okhaldhunga Hospital in your prayers.
  • Please pray for the providence for waste management project.
