Clinic ready to go alone
Clinic ready to go alone

After 10 years of support, one of Tansen’s satellite Maternal and Child Health (MCH) clinics held a handover ceremony on Monday 27 November. UMHT* helped to equip and set up the birthing unit at the clinic in Argali, a rural part of Tansen Municipality. It is now functioning well, and we heard that they have had no maternal deaths in their coverage area. Last Monday the health post was busy with a steady flow of pregnant women and mothers with babies, just like our previous monthly visit days, so it is clear that the MCH clinic will thrive without our input in future.

It is now time to move on to support another clinic in another rural municipality, in a place called Jadewa. As part of UMHT’s support for maternal and child health in the wider community, our midwives also visit three other government health posts monthly, encouraging their staff to continue to give good care.
