We have been busy with a ten-day-long Community Psychosocial Worker’s training in Nepalgunj which finishes tomorrow, 7 May. UMN Medical and Development Trust’s (UMN MDT) Mental Health Project staff and partner staff from Bajhang, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi and Rukum were oriented on this important issue by two facilitators Mr Tilak Manandhar and Ms Parbati Pandey.

Our field mobilisers who have taken part in this training will now be better equipped to provide basic psychosocial support in the community and also identify people who need this kind of support. They will also be capacitated to refer community people with mental and psychosocial issues to appropriate institutions and health facilities.
