Prayer Points – June 21
Prayer Points – June 21
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
(1 John 5:14)
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
  • Give praise to the Lord that he has heard our requests in prayer. On Friday the long-awaited GA was signed off with the Government/Social Welfare Council, effective from 16th January 2021 for 5 years. We must now press on to complete our Project Agreements, and hopefully obtain the visas that go with them. Let’s keep that supported in prayer – and in particular, pray that the process is now much faster and smoother than the GA process has been.

  • Let’s also pray for all Christian Faith based organisations who are seeking GA & PA with Government. Pray for greater acceptance that these organisations are genuinely seeking to do good in the most disadvantaged situations in Nepal.

  • Pray for Ramesh Thing and his cluster team of Rukum East. They are preparing to distribute Health and Safety equipment and materials to health institutions and food relief support to families affected by COVID-19.

  • The monsoon season has begun. Pray for families who have lost their relatives and shelters due to the heavy rainfall. Heavy rain since 15 June has caused flooding and landslides in many parts of Nepal. Altogether, 67 people are missing, and 260 houses have been damaged and more than 600 people are displaced in different places.

  • Few of our staff and their families who have lost their loved ones; Shrina lost her Auntie and Surendra lost his brother. Pray for God’s comfort and strength as they grieve. Continue to pray for complete healing for Parsu and Niki.
