Prayer Points – November 29
Prayer Points – November 29
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
Isaiah 55v6

We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.

Major Matters for Prayer
  • Give praise to God for the successful General Assembly last week bringing together partners from around the world and interested supporters from Nepal. Pray that the vision shared will inspire and that positive steps will be made to address the many challenges facing UMN in these days.
  • Give thanks that Board Members were able to meet and make decisions as well as be a supporting presence at the GA. Pray for them as they give time and professional expertise in guiding UMN going forward.

  • Pray for Dhana Lama in her first full week as new Executive Director. Also remember Bal Kumari, Programme Support Team leader and Bishal Shrestha, Programme Partner Team leader and all of the Leadership Team as they begin work in a new era.

  • Please pray for the fruitful visit of our board members in Rupandehi and Kapilvastu clusters. They will be visiting partners, community and meeting with the cluster team, as well as Tansen Mission Hospital.
  • Sagar and Katherine are visiting Bajhang this week to facilitate Outcome Mapping training and follow-up with partners and the cluster team. Please pray for their safe travel and fruitful training to build the capacity of the cluster and partners in Bajhang.
  • In Kapilvastu, Kindernothilfe (KNH) is withdrawing partnership from UMN for the Our Access/ Self-help approach project by the end of December 2021 and instead will start to implement the project directly through our local partner Dalit Social Development Centre from January 2022. Please pray for a smooth transition of this partnership without damaging relationships. Please also pray for our Project Manager, Khem Bhandari who will be affected by this change.
  • Please pray for the complete healing/recovery for Dr. Olak Jirel, Hospital Director who is now recovering from COVID at home. Also continue to pray for the life of Bikash Adhikari, Director of an NGO who facilitate for those referred by UMN to come to Kathmandu for disabilities.  He continues to be in a critical condition, receiving specialist treatment.
