Prayer Points – August 2
Prayer Points – August 2
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein

In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
(Psalm 18:6)
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
  • Some of our Ex-pat colleagues, including Joel and his family, have recently returned to Nepal and are now quarantining. Others are planning to return soon. Pray for safe travel and the opportunity to settle again to life and work in Nepal. This also applies to some new Ex-pat members of UMN.

  • The infection numbers in Nepal, especially Kathmandu valley, are rising. We ask special prayer for some of our staff members and their families who are ill at this time. Please pray for healing and a sense of peace in these difficult days.

  • At the close of last week Doti Cluster successfully handed over some health items and equipment to Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) of Sudurpaschim Province. (this included 2 Infant Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (ICPAP) machines, 14500 masks for children and 2500 Antigen test kit worth approximately $16,000) These items were received by MoSD Respected Minister Lal Bahadur Khadka, state-minister, Ms Mana Kumari Saud and Senior Health Education Administrator Mr. Narendra Singh Karki.

  • Pray that giving such as this (and other similar work being planned in other clusters) will not just be received, but appreciated as coming out of genuine concern for the health and wellbeing of the poorest people in Nepal.

  • Pray for Jiwan Rai and some members of the Nawalparasi team who on Monday will be facilitating an Integral Mission workshop for Church leaders in the community. Pray that these leaders will catch a vision of how they can lead their people to fully engage in serving the needs of their communities.

  • Let us continue to pray for complete healing of Shrina and her husband, Ramesh Thing’s family, Parsu and Niki.

  • Please continue to pray for Central Project Advisory Committee meeting and approval of Project Agreements, which have been due because of political transition again.
