In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, UMN invites all people of prayer to set aside time daily to ask for God’s help in our work in Nepal. The time suggested for UMN staff is 3.00 pm. For our friends around the world, we ask that you join us either at the equivalent time in your country of 3 pm Nepal time, or whenever you are able. Many have found setting a daily alarm on their phone a useful reminder.
Thank you for your fellowship in prayer.
Joel Hafvenstein
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.â€
(Psalm 145:18)
We encourage everyone who is praying for UMN not only to raise our requests but to listen to God on UMN’s behalf. Please take time to read this Bible verse slowly to yourself. Pause and ask God to speak through His Word. Then read it slowly again. Settle and calm your mind before you pray.
Major Matters for Prayer
Tansen Hospital has been over 100% bed occupancy most of last week despite the lockdown. Pray for our nurses caring for many extra very sick patients, some on extra beds squeezed into already busy wards.
The pandemic continues to impact the entire country. There have been nearly 300 deaths. The daily number of new infections is close to 1000. Kathmandu Valley is now a ‘hot spot’ as there were 354 new cases on Saturday. Currently across the country there are 174 COVID-19 patients in intensive care, 24 of whom are receiving ventilator support. Please continue to pray not just for our own hospitals but for all medical services.
Doti cluster team have asked for prayer as they are planning to go back and reopen the cluster. Prayer is needed for all the arrangements, getting passes from CDO and safe travel. One partner staff of the Mental Health project is found coronavirus positive and he is in isolation. Please pray for his quick healing. All partner staff are planning to return to the field to restart project activities, so pray for their safety and the danger of COVID-19 transmission.
What Doti Cluster have asked is very similar to the needs in all clusters as all plan to reopen as soon as it is possible. Pray especially for all Cluster Team leaders.
Behind the scenes many UMN Staff and others are working to finalise arrangements to form a new trust that will enable us to work more easily with the government regarding the work of the hospitals and general projects. Similar legal work is also advancing regarding the Thapathali property. Please pray for these unseen but vital steps for the future.
